Hi, Mike. TSW is the best! — I took a course starting Jan. 2021 and I am still learning; Greg is a great leader/teacher. I wish you (and ‘progeny’) a wonder-filled time in the Shasta Trinity. PLEASE (I AM begging you) on your way back on I-5: take a hard left onto Hwy. 96 (approx. 9 miles past Yreka, CA) and explore the Klamath River as it is now. It is really shocking. The Mother has taken a huge (and completely avoidable) wound in the Klamath National Forest. If you travel west and reach Happy Camp you can head due north over the pass to 199 (at Obrien, OR) and back to home. I’d be thrilled to treat you to a pizza in Happy Camp, but (big alas) not organic. Anyway, whether we can connect or not, I and many others who are hurting here would greatly appreciate eyes-on attention from some one soulful and activated like yourself. This kind of attack is planned for many rivers in the near future. Sending much gratitude, regardless.

Wow that is really sad to hear? I thought taking out the dams was a good thing no? What’s the issue?

Breaching three dams in January, was NOT the original plan. The result was that the reservoirs emptied a huge amount of clay-based sediment, and sequestered metal toxins (aluminum, arsenic, barium, chromium, etc). The sediment was originally supposed to be removed, the dams drawn dawn over three years. To add insult to injury, the remaining sediment was and is being scooped out and dumped into the river. The result has been that dissolved oxygen levels tanked for such a period of time as to kill even crayfish. Two more times the DO has tanked, as more toxic sediment has been pushed into the river. My recent water test (75 miles from the dams) showed 120X MCL (drinking water standard) for aluminum, almost 6X MCL for arsenic and over 2X MCL for chromium. It's worse upriver, but not everybody can afford water tests, and the country and KRRC are either not testing or not revealing results. The county (Siskiyou) declared a state of emergency in March, but that was quashed. Sediment has filled the river, covering fish spawning area, and is so deep upriver that deer and cattle are wading across. People living around the former reservoirs have lost wells. Firefighting efforts were and are severely hampered by lack of water -- and the fact that the sediment will ruin pumps. Irrigation is unavailable because of the same. Power outages are frequent. Deer, elk, waterfowl and livestock got mired in the sediment in the reservoirs, dying of hypothermia or being (compassionately) shot. The Canada geese left before molting this summer, often leaving chicks. The blue herons are gone. No eagles or osprey. No otters, beaver, mink or much else. And the salmon and steelhead (which this was supposed to 'save')? How can they survive? Generations have been decimated. And all we see in the mainstream media is the "Free Flowing Klamath" and lots of celebration about the indigenous and their subsistence salmon being restored. It's sickening, heartbreaking and crazy-making. If you want documentation go to FB group I linked to you earlier and scroll ("Klamath River & Dam Removals"), Mike. We're not lying. This is 'Green' terrorism and part of Agenda 21. My heart aches every day, all day long. I've lived her for a quarter of century and it has been, for 23 of those years, a source of joy, beauty, wisdom and life. Now it is like an open sewer I (and many others) want other river s not to experience this, but dam removals are slated for many rivers including the Snake. If they do as they've done for the Klamath it will be very, very bad. Our voices are few in the mainstream, and our wake-up alarm is not being heard. Come here. See it for yourself. Please. I cannot write adequately.

Hey, Mike~

There are many issues mostly involving secret backroom deals with limited stakeholders, suppressed and cherry picked science, pay for play if you support the controlled narrative leaving PacifiCorp free of any liability, putting it on the backs of ratepayers and taxpayers, many of whom voted no on dam removal and yes on the Prop 1 water bond thinking they were voting for water storage and not the destruction of Klamath river dams, but for me, a resident of the former Copco Lake, it is the utter devastation of our wildlife across multiple species from aquatic, avian, crustaceans, reptiles and amphibians and now the mass

tree die off is showing up. People's homes are now in danger from lost wells, dangerous slope stability and now cracking foundations and land subsidence....

Our governor has denied our county a state of emergency even though it is warranted. Our beautiful Collier rest area that served over a million travelers off of I-5 is now closed due to lack of water and it's beautiful landscape now dying. People who worked there are now out of work. People not out of work are those who are getting paid to promote the project removal and the agents and agencies who are profiting from the job security. The people who now cannot irrigate their properties and are now in danger not only of increased wildfires but now flooding are watching their land, trees, yards, and gardens dry up with little empathy or mitigation for their losses....

I could go on however I hope that sort of clues people in on what the past 8 months have been like for local environmental justice communities impacted by the "unintended" consequences of Klamath river dam destruction. Thank you, ShieldMaiden, for speaking up and out. 🙏😘🙏

Love your message. I think they are tracking us anyway. They are so immature and have nothing better to do then watch us. Maybe they will learn something?
