Mike, is there any substance present in seeing, hearing, tasting, smelling other than knowing? Matter is a way of seeing, a mental construct, not an object seen. As William Blake said, "‘Man has no body distinct from his soul, for that called body is a portion of the soul discerned by the five senses"

It’s not that there was once a world or a body made out of matter and that it then became something made out of mind and then became consciousness. There was always only consciousness. What we perceive, as a single, dimension of mind, and the three dimensions of matter, are superimposed, projected in thought, but never actually come into existence. All there is in experience is consciousness itself, which has no dimensions. There is no inside or outside, the inside and outside are one.

"When we approach healing out of the belief in disease, the fiction of the materia medica, all of our efforts are futile. A Christian Scientist who accepts the reality of disease, but feels they can prayerfully turn it to nothing is entertaining magical thinking. It is already nothing, no-thing. Prayer then becomes a sorcerer’s incantation. We can’t turn nothing into something, unless is it is already nothing, likewise sickness into health, but to know that we are already healed before we ask for it." - Mary Baker Eddy
