Are we in matter or is matter in us, a construct of mind. We do not progress through matter, knowing that we live and breathe and have our being as infinite consciousness, awareness. Matter is an illusion, a concept. As you say, it can't show us the nature of reality. All is Mind. We don't need to believe in some idea of matter to recognize that our experience of the natural world, God's creation, our own body of awareness, is sacred. They are not two, nondual. It's not what we see but the way we see. To hang on to the concept of matter, that "matter matters" as form or wave or even light is a halfway step, where we continue to objectify our experience, duality. Form is not other than formlessness and formlessness is not other than form. It is all formless awareness expressed as form, never being or becoming anything other than itself, ourself. As Huang Po said, "People overlook the reality of the illusory world."

Thanks for this comment Ed as it opens up a very important conversation. Instead of putting down a very lengthy response here, I’ll dedicate an upcoming cast to this!

Good stuff Mike! I'd say, 'all matter' is 'all that matters', which is all regions of aether that take on a persistent material form. I also like the idea of knots in the aether causing materiality.
